Policies

1. Camp Sonrise Mountain may be rented by churches and agencies of the Allegheny Region Conference, and General Conference of the Churches of God, other Christian denominational groups, Christian parachurch groups, and other non-profit groups whose purpose and objectives for renting Camp Sonrise Mountain are compatible with those stated herein (Christian evangelism and discipleship) as space is available. In keeping with the purpose and polices of Camp Sonrise Mountain, the Board of Directors through the Rental and Billing Agent, has the authority to schedule or refuse use of the Camp.

2. Use of Camp Sonrise Mountain by organizations not affiliated with the Allegheny Region of the Churches of God does not imply alignment with or endorsement by the Allegheny Region Churches of God.

3. Camp Sonrise Mountain holds each guest group leader responsible for the activity and conduct of their group's members. This includes ensuring proper leadership/camper ratios required by the State of Maryland, and Camp Sonrise Mountain Purpose, Policies and rules are followed at all times. Also, Camp Sonrise Mountain holds the leadership and organization renting the Camp responsible for the physical and moral conduct of their group, and for any property damage beyond normal wear and tear. Those who rent the Camp must have chaperons, counselors, etc. of children and youth properly screened to protect campers from acts of abuse. This screening might include, but is not limited to, background checks, criminal record checks, interviews and fingerprinting.

4. Prohibited on Camp property are pets of any kind, travel trailers and campers, tents, smoking and chewing tobacco, alcoholic beverages, illicit drugs, firearms and firecrackers of any kind, sparklers, skates, skateboards, gambling, electronic entertainment (music, games, etc.) immodest swim wear, and any unchristian activity.

5. Also restricted is the use of motorized vehicles of all types beyond designated parking and driveway areas. This includes all snowmobiles, ATV's, dirt bikes, golf carts, etc. Exception will be permitted for medically approved handicap mobility equipment. The use of such equipment is limited to walkways, buildings and parking areas.

6. All renters and visitors must abide by the Purpose Statement, Rental Policies, and policies no less strict than the Camp's policies on Sexual Misconduct and Blood & Body Fluids.

About Us

Mission

Camp Sonrise Mountain is a non-profit corporation that exists for the purpose of providing facilities and an environment where the gospel of Jesus Christ may be proclaimed and where individuals are encouraged to seek and find greater meaning for their lives in Christ.

History

The camp is part of the Allegheny Region Churches of God (ARC) and was built in1965. The original land was the Maryland portion of the Rodahaver farm donated to the Churches of God for the purposes of building a camp. Many additions have occured over the years to make the camp one of the best facilities in the area.
